c.1960 Mansei Toy Co., Friction Girl Cycle in Original Box

Wonderful tin litho friction drive "Girl Cycle" complete with the original box. Fantastic excellent+ to near mint condition.

Toy is all tin litho with vinyl head and synthetic "rooted hair". Upper body half is integrated into the two motorbike halves. Only the arms (and head) are separate. Vinyl head has facial features which are directly painted on. Rider still has original fabric bow tie hair ribbon.

Original box features early 1960's style, full panel color illustration of young teenage girl waving while sitting on her "Lady" motorbike. Mountains and trees can be seen in the background. Side panels show her in portrait, zooming by the shore line... and she's still waving.

The manufacturer of this toy is frequently misidentified by its logo as HAJI. Actually the company that produced this toy was the Mansei Toy Company, Tokyo, Japan. The "HAJI" trademark refers to the company owners name, Mr. Y. Haji.

Size: 8" long, 6½" tall.
